Bjarke Ingels Group approached The Makingfield to assist with the realization of an installation in Times Square for Valentine’s Day.  The installation was conceived of as a series of 400 clear acrylic tubes housing custom leds that when activated by a touch sensor, create a 3d pixelated heart.  A detailed 3d model was developed for coordination purposes in order to establish the installation sequence of the lighting, the most critical element of the installation.  Due to the location of the installation, the team had a limited window of 7 hours to install the project.  Installation sequencing was established in detail and the majority of the project was pre-assembled prior to delivery, leading to a seamless installation.
