Making Report:
The Makingfield was approached by Richter Ratner to develop a palletized system for the installation of an asymmetrical ceiling system with embedded led lighting. The project required tolerances of a 1/64 of an inch and thus required a high level of automation in the assembly process to reduce human error. A palletized system was developed in which all of the necessary components of the ceiling ( air diffusers, lighting, access panels) were located via cnc tool pathing and constructed from cnc routed components. Additionally, a cnc routed template was layed out in the field to ensure corresponding as built conditions. Each of the 120 Modules was modeled in solidworks and a full set of assembly modules was developed for both assembly and installation. The entire system was fabricated in under 4 weeks with install being completed 2 weeks after delivery. By pre-locating the over 300 housings for the LED lighting, the installation schedule was reduced significantly.
