Aqueous Mass is a series of interactive installations at international W Hotels that create an immersive environment for Intel Ultrabooks. The beehive forms are modular in plan and balanced by organically carved out interiors, highlighting the ability of digital fabrication to marry these typologies. I worked with Gage Clemenceau during design development to determine the best details and dimensional limits, while maintaining the design intent. The original design utilized full-size corrugated metal sheets, which would have made manufacturing and shipping difficult. The order of operations required to produce the design was analyzed to best engineer the project to fit the capabilities of the fabricator.  The maximum panel width was based on the width of the time saver and the length was based on the maximum size the sheet metal operator could comfortably handle.  A complete set of sheet metal drawings and a series of installation drawings were developed to facilitate assembly.
